A request for subsidy can be submitted for the application of after-treatment technologies on board of medium sized and large vessels. This includes:

• the purchase of an after-treatment system;
• the installation cost of an after-treatment system.

The after-treatment technology belongs to the fixed structure and/or fixed equipment of the motor vessel and improves the ecological performances.

In order to receive aid within the support measure for after-treatment technologies of medium-sized and large vessels the following requirements need to be fulfilled:

• to be an inland shipping entrepreneur;
• the vessel for which the aid has been requested is used for professional purposes;
• the vessel for which the aid has been requested is designed for navigation on waterways of CEMT class IV and above,
• the vessel has not benefited from aid under the impulse program low-emission engines of Waterwegen en Zeekanaal NV, nv De Scheepvaart or Promotie Binnenvaart Vlaanderen.

Waterwegen en Zeekanaal NV and nv De Scheepvaart are willing to subsidise 50% of the total investment cost. This aid can rise up to 50.000 EUR max. per vessel. The aid will only be paid after submission of invoices duly paid..

Investment cost are eligible for funding provided that the expenditures have been purchased from third parties under market conditions and in which the applicant could not directly or indirectly exercise control.

The support measure is covered by the de-Minimis rule of the European Union. According to the de-Minimis rule of the European Commission any beneficiary can receive up to 200.000 EUR max. during a period of 3 years.
