- Cost Analysis, Life Cycle, SHIPLYS
The project is in response to needs of SME naval architects, shipbuilders and ship-owners, who, in order to survive in the world market, need to:
• Improve their capability to reduce the time and costs of design and production
• Reliably produce better ship concepts through rapid virtual prototyping
• Meet the increasing requirements for LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Analysis), environmental assessments, risk assessments and end-of-life considerations as differentiators.
SHIPLYS aims to build on existing experience in the shipping sector, and transfer experience from the development of life cycle modeling and rapid virtual prototyping in other industry sectors. The project offers benefits to a variety of industry stakeholders including designers at shipyards, ship owners, classification bodies, researchers and technology providers to the shipping sector.
SHIPLYS in a nutshell:
SHIPLYS = ‘SHIPLYS Platform services’ enabling integration of Rapid prototyping/ simulation tools (Design and Production) + Life cycle tools (LCT) + Multi criteria decision support tool.
‘Glue’ code is being developed to integrate Applications (existing and owned by a SHIPLYS partner or being developed in the project or by 3rd party) to the SHIPLYS platform being created.
Prototyping/ simulation tools for early ship design and production planning are being developed.
SHIPLYS Life Cycle Tools (LCT) providing functionality to carry out LCCA, Risk Assessments and Environmental impact assessments are being developed together with a Multi-criteria analysis module to support optimal decision making based on the perspectives of different stakeholders.
The SHIPLYS project has received funding from the European Union Horizon 2020 Programme under grant agreement n° 690770.
