The incentive scheme ‘Clean inland waterway transport and sustainable logistics in Rotterdam” by the Port of Rotterdam grants financial support to inland waterway transport. Eligible projects must lead to a reduction of:

• fuel consumption
• greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4)
• emission into the atmosphere (NOx, PM)

The scheme is intended for enterprises, public organisations or combinations of them. The maximum amounts are:

• 25% for eligible research projects
• 75% for projects designed for the implementation of tangible demonstrations

The call for proposals is open until 31 December 2016. Thereafter an independent Innovation council will evaluate the submitted proposals.

The ranking takes place on the basis of the expected environmental benefits (reduction fuel consumption, emissions of greenhouse gases and emissions in the atmosphere) per EUR invested in the initiative in the area of Rotterdam until 2025.
