Connecting Europe Facility. 2018 CEF Transport Call

 · In the transport sector, the CEF shall support projects of common interest, that pursue the objectives set out below: (a) removing bottlenecks, enhancing rail interoperability, bridging missing links and, in particular, improving crossborder sections; (b) ensuring sustainable and efficient transport systems in the long run, with a view to preparing for expected future transport flows, as well as enabling all modes of transport to be decarbonised through transition to innovative - low carbon and energy-efficient transport technologies, while optimising safety; (c) optimising the integration and interconnection of transport modes and enhancing the interoperability of transport services, while ensuring the accessibility of transport infrastructures.

Actions able to be supported

This CEF Transport call is coordinated with the calls in the CEF Energy and CEF Telecom Sub-Programmes. The overall aim of this coordinated effort is to exploit synergies between these sectors regarding the aspect of digitalisation with the purpose of developing and implementing coherent digital infrastructure and solutions across the various networks.
Applicants can focus on a topic of one of the following Funding Objectives:

  • Funding Objective 1 “Removing bottlenecks and bridging missing links”:
    • Priority 1.1 Rail interoperability
    • Priority 1.2 European Rail Traffic Management Systems (ERTMS):
  • Funding Objective 2 “Ensuring sustainable and efficient transport in the long run”:
    • Priority 2.1 Safe and secure infrastructure

  • Funding Objective 3 “Optimising the integration and interconnection of transport modes and enhancing interoperability, safety and security of transport“:

    • Priority 3.2 River Information Services (RIS)
    • Priority 3.3 Multimodal logistics platforms
