A – modernise the fleet & strengthen IWT environmental performance€ 9 million

A 1 : retrofitting

  • 30 % of investment cost, subsidy limited to € 70 000
  • Remotorisation beyond standards, adaptations to save energy consumption

A 2 : retrofitting to modernise boats

  • 30 % of investment, subsidy max amount € 60 000  (€ 150 000 for structural works)
  • Structural works & IT costs included

A 3 : onboard handling equipment, loading optimisation software

  • 30 % of investment, subsidy max amount € 80 000
  • Onboard cranes, loading optimisation software

B – encourage IWT new lines & improve cargo security € 7 million

B1 : launch new units matching structural developments & need for the fleet renewal

    • Which investments or studies are covered ?
      • studies : 50 % , grant limited to € 50 000 (SME only)
      • Construction
        • Less than 1000 t units : 20% of investment cost, grant limited to € 200 000.
        • RHK : 20% of investment cost (10 % if medium size company), grant limited to € 200 000 (SME only)

B2 : adapt & renew the fleet to match specific clients’ requirements

  • Open to projects linked to additional tonnage, especially in new industries for IWT
  • Eligible expenses : studies (50%, grant limited to € 100 000) & construction (20%, grant limited to € 200 000)

B3 : construction of new units designed to call sea ports

  • Adaptation & construction of IWT units
  • Eligible expenses :
    • studies (50% max. € 100 000) et
    • construction (20% max. € 400 000) OR Adaptation (30 % max. € 90 000)

C – support creation & development of IWT companies : € 5.5 million

C1 : purchase of 1st ship linked to the creation of an IWT company

  • Grant limited to purchase of small units : Freycinet, Kempenaar, canal du Nord et DEK (WLL < 1 000 tons).
  • € 80 / ton, grant limited to 20% or € 40 000.

C2 : development of IWT companies(SME only)

  • purchase of a 2nd larger unit (or a 2nd unit)
  • key criteria : unit less than 20 years old,, motorisation CCNR 2, système aide navigation, bac à batterie, bac de récupération des eaux usées, PEL > 1 000 tonnes
  • grant basis : 20 % of purchase budget (10% for medium size companies), grant limited to € 200 000

C3 : arranging accomodation facilities for an apprentice

  • grant basis : 30% of expenses, grant limited to € 15 000

D – encourage the uptake of innovation Budget : € 1 million

goals :

  • Test & launch innovative solutions
  • main targets : cut energy consumption & polluting emissions

What does the subsidy cover ?

  • 50 % of survey costs, subsidy limited to € 100 000
  • For SME only : subsidy may reach 70 % if results are disclosed within the industry
